Ever wonder what all the fuss is about God? Why do so many people take Sunday mornings to get up and go to church? And the Bible, isn’t is just a good book of stories?
I can’t make you think anything different than what you already believe. But you are on this page out of billions of internet pages and that is no accident. That is God’s Sovereignty working in your life right now. Sovereignty? Really? Yes, God orchestrates and allows events into our lives to shape us and call us to Himself.
Here are a few words that you may have heard before:
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.”
That verse is found in the Bible in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8. This particular version is the New International Version.
Here are some particular verses to consider:
“All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23
“You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, thought for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ dies for us.” Romans 5:6-8
“If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.” Romans 10:9-10
If you feel a tugging in your heart, ask God for forgiveness and for the gift of the Holy Spirit through Jesus Christ. Call a believer and let them know! There is great rejoicing in Heaven at this moment!
I recommend picking up a copy of the Bible in the New International Version because it is very readable. I currently use an English Standard Version – the study bible – because it has notes at the bottom of the text to help explain things.
