What do you do? That’s a common question.
Probably equally important is this: Why do you do it?
Do you know why you do what you do?
Is it for the joy of actually doing it?
Is it to make money?
Is it to be famous?
Is it to master the subject? To be seen as an authority?
Creativity drives you to create, but what keeps you going even when you get stuck?
If you can identify the “why” of your creative endeavor and put it into words, you will have no problems when you get stuck. If, however, you are like me and are a bit lost on the “why” part, perhaps it’s time to start journaling and thinking about it again. Which is what I intend to do.
I’ve been thinking a lot about purpose and why I do the things I do. Right now my focus is on learning a new skill – painting well. It is all consuming, in a good way. Because of this, I have decided to take a break from blogging for a few months. I know this is the right thing to do because in the past few weeks I have been painting and sewing and happy at both. But I haven’t wanted to post any pictures of these things. That is the first time I’ve not wanted to share something I’ve learned while creating in a long, long time. Not really sure why yet, but I know it will come. Life is a journey, indeed.
So thanks for traveling this part of life with me. I’ll let you know when I am able to share something meaningful with you again.
Until then, happy creating!
